Two separate traffic stops resulted in three drug arrests on Friday, Aug. 14, as motorists from neighboring areas drove through Union County.
Georgia State Patrol initiated one of the traffic stops on US 129 S in the area of Blood Mountain. Union County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene, where a search was conducted that found drugs within the stopped vehicle, said UCSO Narcotics Capt. Tyler Miller.

Trevor Phicko Ross and Heather LeeAnn Coleman Gribble, both of Mineral Bluff, were arrested and charged for possession of 17.5 grams of methamphetamine, 20 hydrocodone pills and 7.5 grams of marijuana, Miller said.
Ross was also charged with driving on a suspended license, and Gribble, who was wanted out of North Carolina for probation violation at the time of her arrest, was additionally charged for not having drugs in their original container and possession of drug-related objects, per UCSO.
Also Friday, Lloyd Queen from Young Harris was stopped for speeding in the Union County portion of Gumlog Road, Miller said.
The sheriff’s deputy smelled marijuana emitting from the vehicle, establishing probable cause for a search that turned up a felony amount of marijuana, for which Queen was charged, Miller said. He was also charged for having an expired tag.
Such arrests line up with Sheriff Shawn Dyer’s goal of removing as many drugs as possible from the streets of Union County, regardless of where they are coming from.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
