On Wednesday, Jan. 28, a deputy with the Union County Sheriff’s Office pulled over a white Ford Focus after a random license plate check revealed the vehicle had no insurance, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The traffic stop occurred on Blue Ridge Highway at the intersection of Airport Drive as the vehicle was traveling toward Blairsville city limits, UCSO Narcotics Capt. Tyler Miller said.

Upon speaking with the female driver and male passenger, the deputy smelled marijuana coming from inside the car. Additionally, aspects of their story did not add up; they were claiming to be grocery delivery drivers, but there was no indication that was true, Miller said.
The Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit responded to assist, and based on the detected odor of marijuana, probable cause was developed to search the vehicle, Miller said.
Deputies found “large quantities” of drugs – 37 grams of methamphetamine and 6 grams of fentanyl, both trafficking amounts – as well as 2.5 g of crack cocaine; 10 grams of marijuana; drug packaging materials; and a loaded 9 mm handgun.
Timika Felton, 45, of Atlanta, was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking fentanyl, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce, and no insurance.
Brian Price, 32, of Atlanta, was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking fentanyl, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce.
Sheriff Shawn Dyer believes that Felton and Price were up here “peddling drugs,” as there’s “no need to haul that much around for personal use.”
“Our Patrol and Narcotics Divisions are working hard to keep drugs out of Union County,” Sheriff Dyer said.
Both individuals were still in custody at the Union County Jail at press time.
The case will be turned over to the Enotah Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution. All individuals are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
