In a July 29 article titled “Henderson case to feature pre-trial hearings all week,” the newspaper reported incorrect information regarding a GBI investigation into the alleged illegal sale of a personal vehicle by Towns County Sheriff Ken Henderson to the Sheriff’s Office.
The newspaper published that the GBI investigation was alleging that Henderson “illegally wrote himself a check for $17,000 out of a Sheriff’s Office bank account.”

However, the GBI’s original statement about its investigation made clear that “a check was written to Henderson from one of the Towns County Sheriff’s Office bank accounts.” There was no allegation that Henderson wrote himself a check.
The newspaper regrets the error.
