Mrs. Mary Magdaline Chastain age 88 of Heritage Hills Drive Blairsville passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 8, 2026 in the Murphy Medical Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Chastain was born on March 12, 1938 in Pikeville, KY., the daughter of the late Fred McKinney and the late Rachel Johnson McKinney. Mary was a loving and caring mother, sister and grandmother. She loved shopping, cooking and she made the best biscuits ever. She loved spending time with her family and friends and her cat Anna. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Dillon Chastain in 2021, two sons, Ivan Chastain and Adam Chastain and also two sisters, Gladys Sturgill and Ernestine Fincher. Mary was of the Christian faith.

Surviving Mary are one daughter, Rebecca Harwood of Blairsville, one son and daughter in law, Dwight and Sherry Chastain of Wyandotte, MI., one brother and sister in law, Wendall and Patsy McKinney of Taylor, MI., six grandchildren, Rochelle Chastain, Wesley Chastain, Stephanie Chastain, Derek and Brelynn Harwood, Kyle Harwood and Jeffrey Sanderlin, her cat Anna, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday September 13, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Mountain View Chapel. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Derek Harwood, Kyle Harwood, Jeff Sanderlin, Wesley Chastain, Cayden Cunningham and Jacob Hughes. Interment will follow in the Martins Creek Baptist Church Cemetery where she will rest with her beloved husband Dillon. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 12-2:00 pm.
