For a few minutes Friday night, football will take a back seat.
Union County High School’s 2026-27 Homecoming Court will step into the spotlight during pregame festivities at Mike Colwell Memorial Stadium, where UCHS will crown this year’s Homecoming Queen.
The court features five seniors, five juniors, three sophomores and two freshmen. The senior representatives are Isabella Anthros, Abigail Gilley, Kylah Hemphill, Chelsey Alvarez-Maldonado and Teegan Menhennet.
The junior representatives are Kaleigh Bruce, Stella Collins, Samantha Combs, Yazmin Hernandez-Ortiz and Ava Serrano. The sophomore members are Elisabeth Bryson, Brooke Frechette and Kelsey Wallace. The two freshmen are Chloe Mashburn and Holly Veroline.
While Friday night’s crowning of a new Homecoming Queen will be one of the week’s highlights, celebrations won’t be limited to the football field. UCHS has a full slate of activities planned throughout the week, with festivities beginning Monday and continuing through Saturday night.
Spirit Week gets things started Monday as students and faculty are encouraged to show off their favorite sports teams by sporting their colors and gear. Tuesday is “Twin Tuesday,” giving students a chance to coordinate outfits with their friends, while Wednesday’s “Generation Day” will have each grade dressing for a different stage of life. Freshmen will dress as babies, sophomores as kids, juniors as adults, and seniors as senior citizens.
The fun continues Thursday with “Celebrity Day,” when students can dress as their favorite famous personalities, before everyone breaks out the purple and gold for Friday’s “Panther Spirit Day.”
Friday’s festivities will begin with the annual Homecoming Parade at 12:45 p.m., followed by a pep rally to get everyone ready for that night’s matchup with Murray County.
The Homecoming Court will take the field at 7 p.m. for the crowning of the 2026-27 queen, with kickoff between the Panthers and Indians scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The weeklong celebration wraps up Saturday with the annual Homecoming Dance, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Last year’s Homecoming Queen, Mady Adams, will return Friday night to crown her successor. And regardless of who takes home the crown, this year’s Homecoming festivities promise plenty of memories for the 15 court representatives and their classmates as Union County High School celebrates a week filled with Panther pride and Friday night football.
