HIAWASSEE – The Historic 75th Annual Georgia Mountain Fair may have wrapped up over the weekend, but there’s still plenty to do at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds, such as the Hiawassee Pro Rodeo and the brand-new Bubbles & Boots Mimosa Festival, both this Labor Day Weekend.
Saddles will be mounted for two full nights, Aug. 30-31, with gates opening at 6 p.m. and the rodeo beginning at 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The award-winning Hiawassee Pro Rodeo will be packed full of exciting events, to feature all the bronc-bucking and bull-riding spectacle fans have come to expect, plus many family-friendly activities for folks of all ages to enjoy alongside multiple popular food options.
Sanctioned by the International Professional Rodeo Association, admission to watch world-class contestants spur into action is $25 per person, and children 5 and under get in free.
As Fairgrounds General Manager Hilda Thomason has been known to say, “You can’t get much more American than the rodeo, that’s for sure,” so come on down to 1311 Music Hall Road this weekend for a fun family adventure with a fabled pastime.
Then there’s the new Bubbles & Boots Mimosa Festival on Saturday, Aug. 30, starting at 11 a.m. People looking for a full day of things to do can attend this first and stick around for the rodeo.
Tickets to the festival are $25 in advance and $30 at the gate, to include a souvenir glass and “bottomless mimosas.” Admission also gains folks access to food and craft vendors, live music and more. Shuttle services will be provided from the local campgrounds and hotels.
“Grab your boots and raise your glass for a day filled with bottomless mimosas, live entertainment, and endless fun,” according to https://georgiamountainfairgrounds.com/. “With over 20 flavors of mimosas and fizzy drinks, there’s a bubbly delight for every taste.
“Your ticket includes festival entry, access to a variety of unique vendors, a souvenir glass, and all the good vibes that come with a lively mountain gathering.
“Whether you’re a classic orange juice mimosa fan or eager to try something new, this festival is the perfect way to kick back and enjoy a refreshing summer day.”
Performing live at 11:30 a.m. and again at 1 p.m., Red Dirt Revival is a harmony-driven country and country alternative group born in Gainesville, Georgia.
With a ’90s flare to a new country feel, they take their audience on an adventure to soulful melodies and Southern grit. Dancing to the rhythm of life, they believe where words fail, music speaks. Coming from a wide variety of backgrounds, as a band, they fell in love with the music they learned they could produce.
Red Dirt Revival delivers country anthems and ballads of love, heartbreak, loss, “and finding your way home.” Sweeping over the foothills of North Georgia, the name is taking flight and giving audiences across the states a country music adventure like never before.
