UCSO responds to VA Clinic for gunshot person Monday

Around lunchtime Monday, the Union County Sheriff’s Office reported that Union County E-911 Dispatch received a phone call at 10:06 a.m. about a person with a single gunshot wound at the Union County VA Clinic.

Deputies and EMS arrived on scene within minutes and began assessing the situation. It was still an active investigation at press time, and the Sheriff’s Office said it would release more information when it could.

The Sheriff’s Office noted that the scene was secure, with no danger to the community by the time the incident was reported to the public.

Later on Monday, local authorities said the individual died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.
