The General Primary Runoff Elections from June 16 are in the books, meaning ballots can now be set for the upcoming General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Both the Republican and Democratic parties had several races from the May 19 General Primary Elections that did not result in majority winners, necessitating the need for the runoffs to select political party candidates last week.
Union County continued to run ahead of the statewide voting turnout, with 23.93% of the local electorate casting ballots compared to just 15.1% of the overall Georgia electorate, giving Union County the eighth best voter turnout of 159 counties in the state.
Of the roughly 24% of Union County voters, about 22.2% of ballots cast were in the Republican Primary, and about 1.8% of ballots cast were in the Democratic Primary.
