Friesen is a graduate of Woody Gap High School and the University of North Georgia. He has served in the U.S. Army for approximately 10 years and currently serves as a Nuclear and Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Officer, known within the Army as Functional Area 52.
He is currently attending the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, where he is completing a Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering. His graduate studies and research focus on radiation detection and nuclear technologies with applications to military operations and national defense.
Throughout his Army career, Friesen has served in a variety of leadership, operational, and technical assignments. His selection for merit-based promotion to Major reflects his record of performance and the Army’s confidence in his ability to serve at increased levels of responsibility.
Friesen’s promotion became effective July 1, 2026. He is the son of Drew and Anne Friesen of Suches. He and his wife, Ashley, have one son and currently reside in the Dayton, Ohio, area while he completes his graduate studies.
His family and hometown community proudly celebrate this significant milestone in his Army career and his continued service to the nation.
