One of the most popular events in the county is the Boo Bash, held annually at Meeks Park, this year on Friday, Oct. 30, from 4-7 p.m. Along with the plethora of free candy stops, treat vendors will be available for an additional purchase.

Otherwise, activities like bouncy houses and facepainting will be spread out in the main field, and the Haunted Sorghum Mill is due to make its return as well. The Boo Bash costume contest starts at 6 p.m. and includes categories for ages 5 and under, 6 to 12 and 13 to 18.

Originally scheduled for Oct. 3, Family Glow Night will now light up Downtown Blairsville on Halloween night from 6:30-9 p.m. Costumes are welcome, and along with all sorts of dazzling sights, families can participate in fun activities like glow-in-the-dark putt-putt, glowing cornhole or just hang out and listen to the DJ.

Thanks to sponsorships by Nelson’s Tractor, the Mountain Shelter Thrift Store and River City Bank, admission to Family Glow Night is free.

Last but not least, Vogel State Park’s Fall Festival will last all day on Oct. 31, beginning at 10 a.m. Campers staying in the park are welcome to participate in the camp and cottage Halloween decoration contest, which will conclude with judging at 3 p.m.

Campground trick-or-treating starts at 5:30 p.m., and Possum Holler becomes a spooky site of chilling tales when ghost stories start at 7 p.m. Also included are activities like live music, a rubber duck race at Wolf Creek at 4:30 p.m. with an individual duck for $5, hayrides at noon and a cake walk 2 p.m. at $1 per person per round.
