Both people who own homes and those who don’t flocked to the Union County Sports Center July 25-26 to check out the returning Northeast Georgia and Western North Carolina Home & Garden Shows, which featured over 40 venders ready to answer questions and meet new clients.
Just about anything one could imagine for home improvement and maintenance was available that day, including services for bath remodeling, water filtration, roofing, construction, gutter installation, window/door replacement and more. Other vendors sold items like mattresses, swings, jewelry, cookware and cleaning products.

Area residents Mary Turk and Janet Wilde arrived with a long list of items for various areas of their home – bathroom, gutters, plumbing, insulation and foundation – and they found everything they needed at the “one-stop shop.”
Fred and Karen Froberg, however, came simply to have a look. Even still, they were able to get information from one of the contractors for some potential construction work in the future.
“We were across the street at the (Farmers) Market, and we saw the signs and came over to see what was the deal,” Fred said. “Everyone was very nice, very interesting and very, very professional-looking. It looks like a pretty decent show.”
Pure Way with Zone Water Filtration was a popular stop for multiple visitors, and according to sales representative Brandon Sartain, there were already four in-home demos lined up within the first couple of hours.
In operation now for a decade, this may or may not have been the first year the Dunwoody-based business participated in the Northeast Georgia and Western North Carolina Home & Garden Show, but it was the first time Sartain was a part of it, and he was impressed.
“It’s been great. I’ve been to several different home and garden shows, but it’s got a good mix,” Sartain divulged, adding that he enjoyed talking to other people the most. “Being that I’m a people-helping people person, people should know that a filtration system, if it’s the right system that helps them out, can protect their health and their family’s health for the long run. That’s what it’s all about.”
Maria Zabala was pleased with how many people had stopped by her booth for inquiries early Saturday. She explained that while Phoenix Roofing Systems was only established in 2024, the owners had managed a roofing company before. Based out of Ellijay with satellite offices in the surrounding area, the business helps identify roofing and gutter needs.
“We do offer a free roof inspection. If the roof is in good condition, we let the homeowner know the roof is in good condition. If it needs some type of repair or maintenance, we recommend repair or maintenance,” Zabala explained, adding that Phoenix is fully licensed and insured with general liability and workers’ compensation.
Also, Phoenix believes in assisting veterans and first responders, with a portion of their proceeds going to support them. This past week, in fact, they donated a roof to a veteran based in Jasper. Notably, their ratings are five stars on Google and A+ with the Better Business Bureau.
Cesar Bustamante of Rolling Oaks Construction LLC also offered a wide variety of services that day. He revealed that while Rolling Oaks could add onto or modify existing homes, they can also build entirely new houses as well. The company is about a year old, but between Bustamante and his partner, they have about 20 years of experience.
Bustamante graduated from Kennesaw State University with a degree in construction management and worked in Atlanta for some time in commercial manufacturing. Now in the residential field, Bustamante is licensed in Georgia and serves anyone within a one-hour radius, though he is hoping to become licensed in North Carolina within six months.
“We’re a local business. We definitely want to promote everything within the community, making sure we’re active in the business as well,” noted Bustamante. “We just want to help people build their dream home here in the mountains.”
