According to Expo Management Inc. President Bill Anderson, guests come from all over the Southeast to attend the popular Northeast Georgia and Western North Carolina Home & Garden Shows.

This will mark the fourth year Home & Garden has made its way to Union County while enjoying more than a decade of successful attendance during separate annual shows in neighboring Hiawassee.

Having spent 38 years with Expo Management and now organizing his 691st home show, Anderson clarified that the Blairsville Home & Garden Shows happen in the summer, and the Hiawassee iterations return each spring.

“(Home & Garden has) just about anything and everything a consumer could use in the house – floor to ceiling, backyard, front yard, swimming pool, bank lenders, roofing company, gutter company, beautiful sunset swing – it’s really just an array,” Anderson said.

Featuring local vendors and contractors, homeowners and house hopefuls can find just about anything they need for daily maintenance or remodeling. From dock mending to cleaning, tree cutting, outdoor lighting setup and crawlspace inspections, show guests can find a company or individual willing to help.

The charm in such an event, Anderson says, comes from the fact that even if one attends and spends hours perusing what Home & Garden has to offer, he or she can return the next season and get something else out of it.

For example, this year homeowners may need work done on their porch, while next year they’re looking to invest in new kitchenware.

“We have people coming that live in Florida in the wintertime and want to come to the lake and mountains in spring and summer and fall,” Anderson said, adding that long-time locals and full-time residents also benefit in checking out everything.

And this year, there are new selections to keep an eye on, including flagpole installation and swing companies.

The Home & Garden Shows tout free parking and free admission, so be sure to come on down to the Sports Center in Blairsville to see all the home improvement opportunities being showcased this weekend.
