Local families honored for restoring grist mill

The Union County Commissioner’s Office hosted a plaque dedication ceremony at Meeks Park on Thursday, May 14, to honor several local families whose donated labor and materials helped get the wheel of the park’s historic grist mill turning again.

Randy and Chris Hampton of Hampton Well Drilling drilled the well, while Tim Odom, Debbie Scroggs and Chris Fox of Appalachian Water donated and oversaw the installation of the pump and pipe.
