Mr. Scott Douglas Mickler, age 60, of Forest City, NC., formerly of Hayesville, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Rutherford Regional Hospital. Scott was born on July 14, 1966, in St. Augustine, FL., the son of Shirley Ann Gaston and the late Franklin Douglas Mickler. Scott was a loving son, brother, and uncle. He loved listening to 80’s metal music and was a pretty good drummer. He worked in the Food Service Industry and loved hanging out at the Huddle House drinking coffee. He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Douglas Mickler and a brother, Anthony Mickler. Scott previously attended House of Prayer Church and was of the Christian faith.

Surviving Scott are his mother and stepfather, Shirley and Fred Swanson of Hayesville; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Julie and Adam McPherson of Blairsville; Sherri Mickler of Murphy; niece and nephew, Cindy Colbert and Joshua Colbert; one great-nephew, Joseph, one great-niece, Isabella, and many other relatives and friends also survive.
A private family celebration of Scott’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to any mental illness/Adults with Disabilities awareness charity of your choice in Scott’s memory.
