In the leadup to the crash, a northbound 2022 BMW M440i was attempting to negotiate a curve on the highway as a Honda VFR750 motorcycle, driven by Geiger, traveled south through the same curve, according to GSP.

The BMW driver failed to maintain lane, per preliminary findings, and crossed the double yellow center lines, traveling into the southbound lane and striking the front of Geiger’s motorcycle. The young man was transported to Union General Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Charges could be coming for the driver of the BMW pending the results of a full investigation by the GSP Troop B Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team, or SCRT-B, which is assisting in the matter.

Funeral arrangements were not available at press time.
